Additional Lesson
Remember David took with him five (5) stones, one for each of the senses, speech, touch, hearing, seeing and lastly feeling........but if you notice that once the speech center was dead (from the taunting, jeering, name calling, teasing, talking bad about your situation) all the other senses died with it! We've got to learn how to defeat the "giants" in our lives by defeating the speech center of negative talking........the I can'ts, not me's, I'm lost, all the negative things we think and say about outselves. Once they're dead, we can live victorious lives as winners, the kings God predestined us to be.

What I've learned from David & Goliath Lesson
In I Samuel 17:3 The Israelites were camped on opposite mountains, this is where the battle begins.
1st you go into battle on opposite sides, looks easy, you're just fighting this enemy and the war starts.
2nd, they've beaten you before and you've beaten them, but this time they use a different approach, they bring in Goliath, a big man with his threats - but with him, he brings his taunts, his jeers, his lies.
vs.9
which he taunted them for 40 days, morning & night (remember anything that's done for more than 30 days, becomes a habit)
vs16
then they were in the valley, fighting
vs 19
by the time David got there, they had been listening to their fears and the taunts against their minds, their ambitions, their senses - they were in a trench. Someplace where you've dug down by wearing down, eroding, worn out. Now it takes great effort to climb out of just in order to start fighting.
Now here comes David, a kid.......all the people are telling him of the great riches that are available to the one who kills this "giant" - of course they can't, they're ineffective, their fears hold them back from their break through, from walking and trusting God completely. Then comes the "big brother" with an attitude. Who are you? Who do you think you are? What have you done to prove yourself? Living within their own fears trying to dump them on someone who has the innocence, faith and trust in God to believe.
People from your own "side" will fight you, they want you to make it, but in their heart of hearts since they can't, they really don't want you too either. First it'll be your family, then it'll be the "government" the rulers of the church, the leaders. They'll lay on you red tape, their ways, their types of armor. It'll be things you don't know how to use, heaviness, trying to weigh you down with their trappings. Their guilt, their shame, their condemnations.
vs 34 & 35
You rehearse your victories, how you've beaten stronger ones than this. The ones that God gave you the victories over.
vs 39
David put off their armour, he left behind their type of warfare, their type of battle, the way they did things and went out in the name of God.
I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defiled.
This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee....that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear; the the battle is the Lord's and he will give you into our hands.
When David slew Goliath....he hit him in the forehead....right between the eyes. Where the speech center lies in the brain.
This is how you stop all those "voices", those taunts, those nagging thoughts of fear.
It's God's plan for us to have the victory over any/all giants in our lives, we just have to use the "right weapons". Gods' word is sharper than a two edged sword. Read it, speak it, and listen to it, daily. Without it you'll starve your soul and spirit.
